| Tools required for HP Carburetor Kit:
- Medium Phillips screw driver
- small flat head screw driver
- hacksaw
- razorblade
HP Carburetor Kit Includes:
#2007 HP Carburetor (1) #2010 Throttle Linkage
#2008 Intake Manifold (1) Throttle Spring
#2009 HP Intake Gasket (1) Barrel Nut
*Cut 4 threads off from stock carb bolts!
Removal of Stock Carburetor:
1) Remove yellow & blue hoses from carburetor
2) Remove throttle cable
3) Remove air cleaner assembly & remove screws
4) Remove insulator manifold & screws
5) Remove throttle swivel & clip from stock carburetor & install on HP carburetor
Installation of HP Carburetor
1) Install HP insulator manifold & screws (Very important that the small hole in the insulator gasket be at the bottom. If hole is plugged, fuel will not be pumped to carburetor).
2) Remove cylinder cover & trim to allow throttle linkage to move freely
3) Install throttle linkage to carburetor at primer bulb.
4) Insert throttle barrel into mounting bracket hole, thread nut all the way tight.
5) Slide spring on throttle cable over aluminum tip & insert tip into swivel.
6) Install air filter, carburetor, & gasket to insulator with carburetor primer bulb facing up using assembly mounting screws & correct number of washers with stock air cleaner. If HP velocity stack adapter is used, carburetor screws may need to be cut or ground to prevent electrical kill switch failure due to electrical grounding to cylinder.
7) Connect fuel hoses to carburetor, blue on bottom and yellow on top next to primer bulb.
8) Reinstall cylinder cover, be sure throttle operates freely, and cannot stick in open position.
**Note: Aluminum throttle bracket may need to be bent slightly for proper clearance and to achieve full range of throttle control.
Carburetor Adjustments:
1) Set low (“L”) screw to 1 ¼ turns out.
2) Screw idle screw all the way in.
3) Set high screw to 1 ¼ turns out.
4) Start scooter (you may have to adjust low screw a little to get started)
5) Once started, adjust low screw (while running) until idle is a slow as possible, without killing the engine. (Maximum rich at low RPM)
6) Hold throttle wide open, with wheel off the ground, and adjust high screw to achieve maximum RPM.
7) Once maximum RPM is achieved unscrew 1/16 of one turn.
8) Repeat steps 5-7 until steady idle and max RPM can be achieved. |
